BSC 160 Microbiology and Society
Introduction to microorganisms, their diversity, and their impact on society
as agents of disease, in the environment, and in useful applications. Lecture
and Laboratory. This is the “non-majors” microbiology course.
BSC 260 Microbiology
This course in general microbiology covers the fundamental nature of microorganisms,
microbial diversity, microorganisms as agents of disease, the role of microorganisms
in the biosphere, and the utilization of microorganisms by humankind. Lecture
and Laboratory. This is the “majors” microbiology course.
BSC 466 Microbial Physiology
Molecular and cellular aspects of microorganisms: growth, metabolism and its
control, membrane and cell envelope structure and function, transport, chemotaxis,
antibiotic action, adaptations to extreme environment. Lecture.
